3Dicom Viewer & 3Dicom Pro are part of the Singular Health Group. Founded in Australia in 2017, Singular Health has developed a robust, offline volumetric rendering platform (VRP) for the 3 Dimensional visualisation of traditionally 2D medical imaging data.

The broad applications of the VRP has meant that Singular’s Group of Companies have developed a number of different products to further improve patient education, general anatomical knowledge and assist with visualisation of surgeries, before, during and after.

Proof of Concept of Volumetric Rendering Platform – CT in VR

Working in collaboration with local healthcare professionals and using anonymised datasets of CT scans, a proof of concept was achieved and a medical scan viewed in 3D using Virtual Reality

Expansion of VRP & Creation of MedVR

Multiple redundant systems were developed to accurately, read, interpret and apply DICOM meta-data to the scans during conversion. Over a period of 2 years, support for MRI, PET scans and a much broader range of DICOM standards was added. This led to more than 90% of DICOM scans being able to be rendered.

A product, called MedVR, was developed for surgeons to assist with pre-surgical visualisation of pathologies and as the name implies, it incorporated Virtual Reality (VR) for a fully-immersive walk-through of the patient’s body.

Singular Health Group Formed & VisualEyes Developed

In August 2019, Singular Health Group was formed due to a number of subsidiary products and operations in Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

With the assistance of a large optometry chain, Singular Health also worked on developing better health literacy in the optical space with the creation of VisualEyes, an interactive program for viewing retinal scans and communicating eye diseases to patients.

Release of 3Dicom Beta

Recognising the desire for a simpler version of MedVR without the setup or cost of the Virtual Reality system, we released a beta version of 3Dicom Viewer via an online download. Available only on Windows, this beta release provided crucial feedback which advised the latest build of 3Dicom Viewer.

Whilst easier and cheaper to use, 3Dicom doesn’t have the same fully immersive, wrap around visualisation provided by MedVR in the Virtual Reality space as seen here.

Commercialisation of VisualEyes

VisualEyes 1.0 was released in October 2020 with support for iPad & Android tablets. Rendering retinal scans in a more intuitive 3D manner along with providing examples of common eye diseases, VisualEyes integrates with optometry clinics EMR systems to be able to explain patient conditions within minutes of the retinal scan being taken.

3Dicom 1.0 Released

After gaining feedback from our beta version of 3Dicom Viewer and deciding to focus on enabling patients to view their own scans in the fastest, more intuitive way, we released 3DicomViewer 1.0.

We’ve also taken onboard feedback from the numerous medical practitioners that used the Beta and are working on a release of 3Dicom Surgical which will unlock a number of surgical planning and analysis tools inside the software.

Virtual Anatomy Launch

We’re very excited to have the opportunity to potential improve the health literacy of millions worldwide through the launch of our Virtual Anatomy software in early 2021.

Combining standard anatomical models with interactive, collaboration classes, quizzes and even a cross-over from ‘perfect’ anatomical models to real, anonymised patient scans, Virtual Anatomy has been in development for a large part of 2020. It is being affordably priced to give more students the ability to better learn about their body.
